Chill Out

November 11, 2007
So I realize that it is Remembrance Day and I thought about what happened with the wars and I think to myself....why is this not remembered here? It was a WORLD WAR!? But then I think some more and I realize that they were not in any of the wars. I do, however, wish that they celebrated stuff from Canada here like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Remembrance Day, etc. because it would break up the year more and I would have a taste of back home.

Today is also Liza-Marie's birthday! We threw her a surprise party on the weekend and she was so shocked! It was great!! :D Then for her actual birthday we went to a place called Chill Out. It is this bar in the middle of a mall that is made ENTIRELY OUT OF ICE!!! It is -6 C in the place and we had to where winter jackets, boots, and gloves just to go in. It was so refreshing. To be cold and then try and warm up after. I miss Canada and the coldness haha. But if I was back home I would be freezing right now because it is still in the 20's here.

Halloween

October 31, 2007
Well today was Halloween and is it celebrated in Dubai? NO! So Marika and I found our own Halloween fun. One of the teachers from school lives in a Villa in a small community. There they do trick or treating every year and Marika and I were invited to go. So Marika, Manna and I dressed up (wore some Halloween Headbands and Bracelets/Necklaces) and set off for the villa to do some trick or treating. So we hop into a cab and Marika tells him where we need to go. This cab driver is fairly new and had no idea where we were going. He called people, we called people, we gave him directions, our friend gave him directions, and in the end we were in the cab for at least an hour and it was literally a 15 minute drive from our place! We drove everywhere! It was crazy.
When we finally arrived at our destination we were late and missed most of the trick or treaters. So we decided that we would go for a walk and do some of our own trick or treating. We went to about 3 houses and each one laughed at us, gave us a crazy look, some candy, and sent us on our way. It was fun! We ended up at the local bar and had a few drinks and some food. Manna and I sang some karaoke and then we went back home. Needless to say it wasn't like a Halloween back home but it was still fun!

I forgot to mention that earlier today Manna chipped one of her teeth quite badly. Here is a picture of her trying to show it off.

OOPS!

Oops. I thought that I had updated everyone a little more than that with Halloween and such but I guess not. So I will be posting for the month of November today. So go by the day I write not by the day it says that I have posted. I wrote a few of these after the time they happened but forgot to post them so here is a catch up! Enjoy.
