Fort Nelson Trip Day 1

Our first family trip in 10 years and 2 are missing. Is it still a family trip? Mom took some holidays and decided that we needed to do a trip this year and I was all for it. Dad threw out his back two weeks ago and is still lying on the floor in pain. My brother got a new job so he stayed home to work and take care of my dad. So Andrew, mom and I packed up the van and left Regina at 11:00 am on Saturday.

We drove all night with few stops and arrived in Fort Nelson, BC around 6:00 am Sunday. We found the campground and pitched up our two tents. We are one of the few who actually still use tents when camping. We are surrounded by RV's in the campground but we get wireless so that's a good deal. It is a luxury that makes "roughing it" a joke haha. I am not complaining though. Camping has just come a long way.

We had a little nap cause we were so tired from the long drive and woke up in time to go to church. After church we had some lunch and went for walk. Andrew and mom are in way better shape than me. I was huffing and puffing by the time I got to the top of the steep hill. It will be something to work on when I move here in August. We stopped for some lunch and did a little reading. After a few chapters we drove about an hour out of town to take in the sights of the valley by Steamboat. Gorgeous views! I will put up pictures when I get back to Regina. Andrew and I took pictures of Edgar around our campground. Those will also be posted later.

A family that reads together, stays together.

We ate some supper and then went to the local theater. We saw The Dark Night for around $7.00 and enjoyed popcorn, chocolate and pop for only $3.50! Good deals. It was a good movie. I highly recommend watching it. After the movie it was time for bed. I will write about day 2 tomorrow. I am now off to find me a place to live. Wish me luck!
