Fort Nelson Trip Day 2

Mom and I woke up and headed off to Curves to get in our workout. It felt good to get in some exercise. We got back to camp to find Andrew in the laundry room at the folding table typing away on his laptop. Here is where we charge our laptops and cellphones and have Internet. After a lovely shower we ate some lunch and began calling around to find a place to rent.

The first place I called said that only one apartment allowed pets and you had to pay for your utilities as well as a pet deposit of $500. George is starting to cause me problems but I want my cat with me so I guess I will have to pay the price. We went to the office where I rented from in the spring to find out if they had any openings. Turned out that they had openings in all of their locations and George was allowed in them all (for a certain price). We made an appointment for tomorrow (day 3) to look at some town houses and apartments.

After making the appointment we decided to hit the trails. We went to the hiking trails located in Fort Nelson. We got there only to find the trails were overgrown and swampy. The worst part was they were filled with MOSQUITOES!! We went for it anyway and left 30 minutes later. We made the best of it.

"The Trail of Death" as we dubbed it.

Mom had a nap while Andrew and I explored a new path we found. On our way we saw a big bird. Andrew said quail, mom said it was a partridge. Oh well I guess we will never know. We tried to get a picture of it but it was fast and hidden.
*as a side note: Mom and I looked it up and the bird was a grouse

After mom's nap we went to the museum and got a few pictures of Edgar. We learned all about the Alaskan Highway. Andrew said it was like history class and almost feel asleep during the video.Edgar at the Museum tapping a message in Morse Code

We went back to the campground and read for awhile. We met our Texan neighbours and their dog Heidi, who loved us. They were very talkative but it was nice to meet new people.

We went out for supper to Boston Pizza. It was yummy and filling. We had tried to go to Dan's but Andrew wasn't old enough. Oh well next time. I will put up pictures later. I will write about Day 3 tomorrow. Keep a look out for the next post.
